Secondhand Goods (Cash Converters) - What are my rights

Options
Bought a secondhand DVD Recorder from Cash Converters today for £20

It all works fine but does not play Video CD's (the main reason for getting it was because I had a load of old Video CD's that I wanted to watch)

I assumed it had the ability as most DVD players have, but it turns out it does not. The shop didn't state that it could.

Do I have any chance of a refund. I have a strong feeling I have no right to a refund as it was my error, would most likely have to be down the goodwill gesture route?

I assumed the bank would put £1000 in my account. Can I demand they do it!

Thanks, looks like I will stick it on eBay then, have emailed them earlier so you never know.

Consider an inexpensive lesson learned, make sure I check next time

Wouldn't hurt to take it back and ask before you go down the ebay route, or see if they are willing to exchange it for you for something else.
