I'm a 'mature' student (28) going back to uni, I'm leaving my full-time job to do this, I have the following questions:
1) I have a pension with Axa (I think), no contributions from my current employer, will this just be put on hold whilst I am at uni?
2) I have an A&L premier account requiring £1000 to be put in each month, currently this is my wages but can I transfer money between my accounts to make up this £1000?
3) I have a current account with Natwest, I have previously held a student account with them (approx 10 years ago), can I transfer my current account over to a student account and still receive the rail card or should I close it and reopen a student account, I also have an ISA with Natwest.
It's kinda scary that I won't have any money like I'm used to but I do get a bursary so I'll have a limited income!

Hello
Can't really help with your questions, but just wanted to wish you the best of luck in Uni.
I am 31 and went back to Uni last year to do a law conversion course.
Best thing i have ever done. You will be amazed how well you can manage without the salary - this site especially is great help.
Best of luck with your studies.

I'm not sure about 1 and 3, but for your A&L account, as long as the £1000 doesn't come from a different A&L account I think it will be ok..... I'm on a student stipend and get paid every 3 months, so have to hold my money in a separate account with another bank and put in £500 a month that way.
hope you enjoy it all!!:happyhear0 -
i think that you'd be able to get the railcard with natwest by switching your account - be cheeky and insist!
Best of luck at university! xProud to be dealing with my debts!0 -
Sorry I can't help with your queries, but felt I would like to put in my sixpennorth. I went to Uni when I was 46 and graduated when I was 49. I was older than most of the others in my group by 30 years, but was treated exactly the same as everybody else, thank goodness. :T I would not have missed the experience for anything. Hope you enjoy your time as much as I did. Very best of luck.0

I'm a 32 year old student and switched my account (Barclays) from a normal current account to a student account and received the student freebies.
Also, I don't know if you have a credit card, but I do and the amount outstanding is above what the student credit card limit allows....I asked about this and I didn't need to switch my credit card, even though I was switching my bank account....big relief!
Good luck - I have one year of my degree to go now and have loved every minute of it.....well, nearly every minute! :rotfl:0
