For Windows XP ( I presume that Vista and 7 are similar )
- Hold the Windows key - it's normally between Ctrl and Alt - and press E.
- A Windows Explorer window will appear. Select 'Folder Options' - from the Tools menu.
- Click the 'File Types' tab in the dialogue box that just appeared.
- Scroll through the list of files in the dialogue box until you find JPG
- In the area of the dialogue box marked "Details for JPG extension' click 'Change'. ( It could also be something like 'Advanced' )
- Select the programme you want to open the files from the list that appears. Click OK.
- Hopefully that's it done...0 -
Does this help?0

You may need to mess about in the registry to get that fixed. If this is anything to go by, the issue is rather complicated - the registry keys involved are hidden all over the place.0

You don't need to edit the registry. Follow the instructions I gave up to the 'Details for JPG extension' section. Then, if the button in the bottom right of that area says 'Advanced' then click it. If not and it says 'Restore', click it. It should now say Advanced, so click it.
Now click the 'New' button. Type something in the 'Action' textbox, say Edit with whatever. Click the Browse button and locate the programme you want to perform this action. Then click in the 'Application used to perform this action' textbox and move the cursor to the far right. Then type a space followed by "%1"
Then click OK in this dialogue box and then the 'Edit file type' one.
You can perform this multiple times to add different actions.
( Again, this is for XP, I don't know how different Vista and 7 are )0 -
The Windows Picture and Fax Viewer exists only in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Later versions have the Windows Photo Gallery Viewer and Windows Photo Viewer respectively.Again, this is for XP, I don't know how different Vista and 7 are0
