britax trekker - rubbish - any comeback

I bought the britax trekker travel system and the pram part is rubbish and unsafe. It tips up if the pavement is humped andit is impossible to collapse if I'm on my own.
These things are difficult to find out before you purchase and I just wondered if I have any course of action here and what my rights are. The car seat is ace but the rest is almost unusable I will never go out in the car with this pram.

If you haven't already I would complain to their customer service department if you believe it is unsafe

I don't know where you would stand on the tipping up business as this could be a health and safety issue, but with regard to the collapsibility (is that a word?!), I would doubt there would be any comeback once you have bought the pushchair. This is something which is so important to try in the shop. We made sure that both our travel system and umbrella buggy were easy for me to collapse by myself whilst holding a baby/toddler, plus changing bag. I must have bored the shop assistant to tears as I tried it at least 10 times to make sure I could do it properly.
Might be a good idea to call into a shop that sells the travel system and ask if they know if it is a common complaint. Also contact Britax and tell them that you feel the buggy is unsafe due to the tipping. Have you any idea why it does this, is there a lot of weight at the front? If all else fails maybe invest in some of those weights to put above the wheels to stop buggies tipping back when lots of shopping is loaded on the handles and put them on the back wheels rather than the front? To be honest, I don't really like three wheelers as they just look really awkward around town (on and off buses etc).
Anyway, hope you get it sorted and you can always Ebay it if necessary."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
this is worrying to me, as this is the system I have bought, but I haven't used it yet as baby is not due for a few weeks yet.....
But, maybe you have got a faulty one ? one of the reasons I chose this system was because it was so easy to collapse - I must have visited the shop about six times before I made my decision and this was one of the things that I tried out each time. The girl in the shop, who was obviously used to it, could have done it with her eyes shut, and after trying it a couple of times I think I nearly could have too....
As for the tipping up on the pavement, Britax make a massive song and dance in their advertising about how important safety is to them, so if you definitely think its a problem with the pram itself (rather than overloading it or anything else that you might have done yourself) then I would definitely contact them.0 -
thanks for your replies - i think i will contact kiddicare and britax. I can only say that the car seat is brilliant - if you have got the pram try it out for yourself a kind of trial run withthe car seat and the pram.
I'll keep you infromed.
