You should start a diary on Twitter. Before long you will have loads of followers and have companies paying you to advertise on your page!!!

Yo memory girl - way to go

I love reading your diary - like so many others I'm always inspired after I read them then I get distracte...........

I read a tip on this site some time ago & instead of a leccy blanket we have a duvet under our bottom sheet - really does work a treat, honest. If it's really cold then a hot water bottle added for half an hour is perfect. It's really worth a try - if you don't have a spare duvet, then PM me - I have a mother's house full of stuff in the garage all waiting for a good home - or indeed a naughty home :p (the spare duvet is in the spare room to keep it warm !!!)

    Have a good evening

I’ve got a light fitting in the kitchen that has 5 halogen bulbs – I assume that this eats electric as it seems to warm up the kitchen quite well – LOL. I need to keep an eye open for a cheap light fitting to replace this one as it is the room I spend most of my time in, and as its north facing I tend to like having an a light on.

Hi Memory Girl and all MSE fans,
I'm a long-time lurker, MSE follower, but first-time poster, so please be gentle with me! :o
We have a light fitting in our kitchen that had 4 halogen lamps in (GU10 type I think); always seemed to blow every few weeks  and was very greedy on the electric.
Thanks to a friendly electrical wholesaler (I work in building services), we now have the same fitting, but it has Megaman CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) versions in. They produce a lot less heat, and use a lot less power (44 watts in total, compared to 200 watts with the halogens in). Best of all though, they have a much longer life; based on 3-4 hours use a day, we reckon it would be around 12 years before they need replacing.:j
B&Q* now stock Megaman lamps; they are a bit more expensive than your normal energy-saving ones, but worth it. We managed to get ours at a discount through the trade, but you may be lucky elsewhere.

    * other DIY stores are available :D

Good luck on your DFW journey; you are doing great!
