BT Reconnection Charge

Hi,

I would be really grateful for any help or advice anyone could give me.

I ordered a BT phone line about a month ago, when i spoke to them they said that there would be a charge of £120 if there wasn't a BT line already installed. I explained that the previous tenants had a BT line, and was told there would be no charge.

And then i got a bill for £120. I phoned up today and the guy told me although they had not installed a line, the £120 was a reconnection charge, because the line may have been rerouted at the exchange?!

Is this right? Can they charge me for this? If they can, shouldn't they have told me this when i ordered?

Any help appreciated!
