Will see whether I can get the £25 install, re BT price list as posted previously. Assume my rats' nest qualifies under the Conversion of hard-wired master socket to Linebox and Regularisation of illicit master socket criteria. Will see what BT say!

You could buy a NTE5 socket HERE or HERE

Or you could get BT to charge you 44 times the cost of the item to put it in (plus VAT)

I have 2 x NTE 5 face plates in my house (2 lines), and a faceplate microfilter for the broadband

Thanks ... self-fit is tempting and I know that many have done this. (I guess it is only two wires to connect) I see that you can even buy the NTE5 with the Openreach logo on - though these seem scarce. I don't mind paying something for BT to do this, but wish their costs were more transparent.

A friend of mine had old phone wiring all over the house with the master socket in a cupboard under the stairs. He put a DECT cordless base and a wireless router in the cupboard and has a separate base to charge the phone.

He actually has 2 DECT phones and just alternates which one gets put on the charger each night.

No wires anywhere for phone and internet.
