I have purchased a Toshiba laptop for my grandson for christmas running vista, This comes with the £27 odd upgrade option, Should I take up this option would this disk update another Toshiba laptop (different model,) running same o.s. bought just over 6 months ago without any problems?

The Windows disc will possibly come with new drivers and programs compatible with Windows 7. Hopefully you won't have any issues with the drivers. No all Toshiba laptops will have Windows 7 driver support.

Take a look at their website to be sure.

Actually, I'm in the same situation. I bought it for one laptop, but they are quite happy with Vista. So I might try to install it on my Toshiba machine, but I don't think that mine has full Windows 7 support from Toshiba, so I could end up with some issues. :D

I'll think about it, as I don't have a lot of time to spend on it before I travel.

My Toshiba Windows 7 Pro Upgrade 32-bit DVD got delivered a couple of hours ago. It is accompanied by what is called a "Toshiba Upgrade DVD"which contains Windows 7 Toshiba-specific drivers. Delivered by a nice UPS chap, and originating from Bertelsmann (?sp) in Germany.

The accompanying booklet says that step 1 is the "Preparation of your Vista system using the Toshiba Upgrade DVD" - might prove a bit of a snag since the laptop now has Windows 7 RC on it (plus the XP 'downgrade', and a data partition).

  • I once got an XP pro disk with coa from Microsoft, Thanks for all your responses to the Vista / W7 problem, I wasn't aware that the upgrade disk had a different coa to the Vista, I doubt it would be worth £60 for w7 on both laptops,
