dfarry, try & get hold of the local weelky papers, Reading Chronicle, Wokingham Times, Newbury & Basingstoke have their own, but can't rcall their names. This will enable you to build up an idea of the goos & not so good areas are. I used to live in Tilehurst & Woodley, both on the outskirts of Reading, nice areas generally speaking bu there are some areas to avoid.

Wokingham is also a nice area however prices are high so you may not get what you want. Also don't forget the traffic, that can add a lot of time to your journey. To give you an idea, I use to travel 9 miles to work, joining the M4 at J12 & leaving at J11, it could take 45-50 minutes.

I used to do a similar journey Jorgan but from J13 to J11 as I used to work in Lower Earley.

Could be a nightmare drive some days

Me too Andrew, where abouts, if you don't mind me asking?

Andrew - did you find that the traffic started to build up just before J12 & was then slow moving to J11 or was it a nightmare all the way on the M4?

The traffic used to build up just before J12, then be bad all the way past the services to J11.

The actual bit from J11 into Lower Earley was fine in the morning as all the traffic was going out towards the motorway, and the reverse in the evenings.

I used to be an in-branch Broker for Roger Platts, but worked for Sequence / Connells for a number of years
