Building wardrobe in recess

I feel like i am forever posting on here but....

I want to build a wardrobe into the recess in my bedroom next to the chimney breast, it will come out a little to add depth. I was going to use MDF, but does anyone have any idea what thickness I would need to accommodate the doors that would go on it?

Kind Regards

Rich

I would find the doors you want to use, measure them and then make the wardrobe to suit them :)

    Im with latecomer here .

Its easy making the carcase , Also most won't be seen , so if you foul up a little
no one can remark on it .
But the doors are the visible bit. Do you really want to 'create' good looking doors?? So much easier to buy the doors . and then build the carcase to fit , including a narrow panel to fit the recess.
build a wardrobe into the recess in

So its a fitted wardrobe ?
MDF might ?? not be my first choice.

Have you thought about building a stud wall. You could use 2" x 2" as the frame and plasterboard. THis will allow you to put in a 'proper' 35mm internal door so that the wardrobe looked like part of the original construction. You can get the plasterboard plastered when you can afford it or you couls line it with lining paper and emulsion over it.
