in Credit cards
Just wanted a bit of advice and help, I have been with Lloyds Tsb since June 2003 and got myself into debit with them, I had been paying it off with a debit management company and up till 11 june this year. On every single statement in had been credit limit £0 and avaliable to spend was £0. But now all my statements have come back saying £2100-00 and £125-00 to spend. But when I phone up to get a replacement card they tell me my card had been closed. i have phoned up 3 times to complain and to say that this is misleading me, if i can use the card and its closed then why do i have a credit limit and avaliable to spend on my statements again. Any body got any advice because i want to give them the same treatment they gave my with harrising phone calls and letters!
how do the bank stand with this legally? cant use but spend avaliable and credit limit shows I should be able to do so!

I think you will find they will not re-issue a new card until your credit rating gets to a certain level (they have their own scores). At the moment, this is probably harder than it has been in the past. If I were you, I would stay away from the credit cards for a while and get yourself on an even keel to improve your credit rating.0

Why do you want a replacement card?0 -
I had a real bad month because car mot was due and knew it was going to fail, but as the story goes, need the car to get to work and the money to pay to get the car fixed! Its more the point that Lloyds TSB will chase you day and night for money but when you complain about them, NOTHING! I know it sounds pathetic but for 4 years they can £0 everything and just paid it off but when you cant use it they tell you that you can by misleading you with information saying you can! This is the main bug bear! But at least When i started almost £15,000-00 in debit and now into last full year next year to get everything paid off and then DEBIT FREE!! Mr Lewis has helped a great deal and im not the first to say thanks for everything Martin! Keep up the good work!!0

Oh God, I know I shouldn't, but I can't help myself.
It's DEBT, not DEBIT. Okay, I feel better for that, thanks. Phew.
I'm ignoring your question about LTSB saying you have a credit limit and not giving you a new card. As someone who has been in a comparatively large amount of debt, you should know better than to contact them and ask them for a new card (so you can start spending again), so I am, for once, applauding LTSB for NOT letting you have a new card. Okay, so you have suffered "harrising phone calls and letters" (sic) but let's face it, if you had loaned someone some money and they hadn't paid it back, wouldn't you make every effort to get your money back?
With regards your car failing its MOT, you should really have been putting money aside for such an eventuality. I know it's easy for me to say, but if you are running a car you have to appreciate that there are certain things that will need paying for at some point, especially if you are running an older car. Don't complain because you can't get credit to cover this "unforeseen" event!!
There is so much else I could say, but I will restrain myself. Apart from "credit is a service, NOT a right".
Thank you, and goodnight.Lightbulb moment March 2004 (Debt £55,000) & debt-free as of May 2007 (thanks to CCCS, and a remortgage to clear last £20,000).
Looking to the future!0 -
wooooo, talk about bite my head off and spit down my neck!!!
Its the fact that they are misleading people with the statements, If you cant get credit it should say £0, Not print on an avaliable to spend credit and a limit!
Cars do cost, Agreed but when things happen you cant always have had money set aside to fall back onto.
From £15,000-00 debit to just under £2000-00 think it getting better and yes i can save more towards the car or a holiday. But hey ho everyone is intitled to there say and I welcome everybodys comments.0 -
Just wondering. Do you still pay the agreed interest with lloyds? If not then why should they reissue the card as the agreement has not been met by you the customer.0

i pay the same as any customer, the outstanding balance and interest, but because it was put into a debit management plan theycancel your cards, Even though they never wrote to me to tell me this! but who holds a grudge!0

But it will be in the T&C's so they are not under a duty to remind you. By going into a debt management plan you will have trashed your internal score.
The fact it says you have available credit is nothing more than a clerical/computer error.
You know you can't use the card so where is the problem ?!
