I am SO annoyed

I ordered a laptop from Comet, which was one of their Deals. I have a 10% discount code which was e-mailed to me personally in their recent promotion, so I got a good deal.

Yesterday I received an e-mail saying that payment had been taken and they would get a call to arrange delivery.

Today I got a call to say it is now out of stock and they had cancelled my order. The helpful lady did offer to put an order through for an alternative if I knew what I wanted (which in itself is unlikely as I wouldn't order a laptop without researching it) but the really annoying thing is that because the order has been processed, the discount code is now invalid so the replacement would have to go through at full price . She accepted that this was unfair and even went and had a word with her supervisor, but there was nothing she could do about it.

I have e-mailed Comet customer service, but I am now looking at the same laptop at Dabs - slight more expensive but with windows 7 (the one I ordered was vista but eligible for upgrade)

This also happened last week with their Sony e-reader promotion for £99.

So their Deals aren't such good deals after all!

Check their T's and C's as to when the contract is concluded. It may be that they have no unilateral right to cancel the order once payment is taken.

I had a problem with Comet with one of those voucher codes. I ordered a dishwasher and processed it all but then there was a problem with my bank authorising payment from my card, long story but a cheque my bank told me had cleared hadn't actually cleared.

I told the lady who phoned that I had a 20% discount code and when I tired to put it in it was now coming up as invalid. She went off to ask someone and came back and told me to email their original email with the code on and they would send me a new one for the same value, which to my surprise they did.

I don't have the email address any more i'm afraid or I would give it you but if you phone up and explain the situation they should replace the code for you if you still want to use them.

We ordered a TV for my son for Christmas, should of arrived yesterday before 6pm, it never arrived, spoke to Comet who told me that it was mistakingly sent from their Edinburgh depot(were in manchester) and it will be with us today but again couldn't give me a time(somewhere between 7am and 6pm), explained that hubby had taken yesterday off to make sure someone was in for the delivery, and today i am only in upto 3pm, she said that their was nothing they could do as they couldn't specify a morning or afternoon slot.

Well upto now no show of the Tv.

Flipping brilliant, was going to place an order with them next week for my hubby's birthday but think i'll get it from somewhere else.

Having worked in logistics for a similar company unfortunately these things happen from time to time, but if it's out again today I would suggest you call them and get someone there to call the driver and ask for an ETA because you were let down yesterday. They should be able to call the drivers mate who will look at the route and give you a time they should be there (Obviously things like traffic depending).

Comet is one of the stores i just do NOT go into. years ago I tried to buy items from them which were on display - but out of stock. so I thought i would phone first to check stock - was informed the item i wanted was in stock and yes they had plenty - got there - and dammit was out of stock (in less than an hour!), then another time a manager said i could have a display item - and i agreed to pay full price although in MOST stores ex-display usually have reduced price.....the girl on the till over-ruled him!!! totally refused to let me have the item - resulting in me dragging the manager over (literally) and being entertained by a ding dong row between them - which she won! at that point i gave up and told her i would go over the retail park to currys and that as of then - one customer lost! oh and a few in the queue behind me were muttering a bit about going to currys instead. so I dont even bother to go in now - I assume they dont want to sell me anything anyway!
