Such a lovely feeling isn't it, to know that everyone has a nice £5 present that didn't involve going into debt. (Did spend a bit more on my Mum though as she has been my rock this year). Mine are all wrapped and all I have to do is get 3 more £5 pressies from Boots and do the food shop which will be no more than a normal weeks food money anyway. I am giving my children £50 each and they can add it to money they get from other people and get something more impressive than I can afford. Bit different from previous years! Going out tonight for my second 'do', another one that is paid for by employer so feeling very festive and jolly today. Just waiting to sort IPA or not! Merry Christmas everyone. :xmassmile

Hi dotty, yep it is a great knowing that your not going to get a credit card statement come January :j

Christmas is fab as a bankrupt! Again, it's a mind thing. Money can no longer get us down, we'll struggle be we'll never go under again. The relief is immense!

I'm lucky enough to have the girls so Christmas is huge for us, all giggly and excited but as parents or grown ups we can feel ourselves relax into it for the first time since we've been together really.. years!

Lovely to see you posting :)
  • Just read this and it made me cry, I went bankrupt three years ago and yes the feeling is great when you dont have to worry any more about phone calls, letters etc. I, too, am having a slimmed down Christmas, as most of my close friends and family know my situation so dont expect anything. Have a great one.

    Hi Justa

Well said...glad to hear that you are through your BR & I really hope this Christmas is a good one for you.

I think all this BR stuff does make us realise just what is important.

Well this will be my first Christmas since going BR earlier this year. It will also be the first in this house as my previous house was repossessed earlier in the year. I can honestly say I'm the happiest I've been for ages and having planned for Christmas have already bought all the presents I needed to and could even manage an 'emergency' early present for my son when his Xbox broke (new ones insured)! I have spent more time thinking about pressie's this year then in previous years and saved money and stress in the process.

Last Christmas was spent without my children as they were at their Dad's but this year I'll have them both and my daughter is now old enough (4 in feb) to be getting excited about Father Christmas coming! Her brother is 14 and lost some of the joy but he's looking forward to seeing his sister on Christmas morning when she sees what Santa's bought her (good job really as he's already had his pressie)!

May I take this opportunity to wish everyone merry christmas and to hope that those of you still struggling with the worry of debt see a better year next year.

    xx
