Voluntary Redundancy

My current employer has taken a decision to offer voluntary redundancy across the board. I am currently still within my 6 month probation period and was not considering applying as I was unaware I'd receive any compensation and have become settled (as well as I can be) at the moment.
However, during a meeting with my seniors, I was advised I should seriously think about taking the package when other colleagues have been advised if they applied they would be knocked back. This is common place in many companies and they have obviously an idea of the staff they would like to keep on.
To finish, they have asked for notification of interest in taking voluntary redundacy and I would like to know my position if I apply.
Should I ask for confirmation in writing of the amount I would receive?
Should I ask for a termination of contract date to be agreed before applying?
Thanks.

Just get a (written) quote, with 6 months service its likely to be very little (I'd guess 2 weeks pay) then take it from there0

If you have no interest in it then do nothing.
As you have only been there for such a short time they could just get rid of you at no cost to themselves, so if they are offering a package then that seems very generous of themWe all evolve - get on with it0
