Fitted kitchen carcass + fridge

My integrated fridge has broken. It is a height that doesn't appear to be available to purchase (around 160cm): all the ones I can find are around 170cm.

There is a fixed divider in the carcass. Would it be possible to somehow get this out, to fit a new fridge? I have no idea how it was fixed: would it have been dowelled and glued, or what?

Any ideas very welcome. I could theoretically go for a smaller fridge, I suppose, but this one regularly runs out of space as it is, with my family!

Thanks in advance.
Debbie

Do you know who made the kitchen? If so you could ask them to find out how the carcasses are supplied - i.e. flat packed or built up.

If its at the end of a run then does it have a end panel you can remove to access the side of the carcass?

if you mean a horizontal divider, then cutting it out should be ok.
usually held with wood dowells and glue. some do have screws too.
    Get some gorm.
  • cut it down the middle with a jigsaw. then wobble the 2 pieces till the come of the sides of the carcass. Just make sure the new fridge doors line up with the carcass doors.

I was presuming the intention was to remove and refit higher up - if not then go with Steve's suggestion :)

It was built up, not flat packed.

The bit at the top is only small, and used as a cubby hole at the minute, so I wouldn't be particularly bothered about refitting it higher.

I like the cut it and wobble it approach. Sounds good as long as I take it easy!

    Many thanks for the replies.
