First Plus PPI - Nearly 1 yr with no progress

Prior to January last year I attempted on two or three occasions to complain to First plus about PPI which was just over £11000 on top of a £25k loan. They rejected my claim outright with no justification although I firmly believe that we have a case.
So I began working with a company (TLW Solicitors Newcastle) who specialise in this type of thing to try and put some weight behind my complaint.
FP ignored the solicitor SAR letters on several occasions resulting in an application to court scheduled for early November. At court FP's Barrister [FONT="]argued that "Essentially, they were arguing that the Court powers which I had used to make the application should not apply to PPI cases and FP instructed a Barrister to argue the point"
The Judge has listed the hearing for 18th December to hear the point of law that they have raised. Stalling tactics I feel and in the interim FP have forwarded me a COPY of a letter they claim to have sent my solicitor in June advising him that we have no claim and all procedure was followed correctly. The solicitor claims to have received nothing.
I am so fed up with this but feel we have a strong case and the £11k PPI has since been rescheduled into a new loan totally £55k and could make a huge difference to our outgoings every month.
Does anyone have a similar experience? I feel bamboozled and even reading the firstplus complaints website seems to go straight over my head.

Hi Sinkingfast, can I ask why you did not go to FOS with your complaint? Was there a broker used for the loan and PPI and also what date was the PPI taken out?SinkingFast wrote: »Prior to January last year I attempted on two or three occasions to complain to First plus about PPI which was just over £11000 on top of a £25k loan. Marshallka - thanks for your response. We did not go to the FOS with our complaint because we did realise that was the procedure. To be honest I queried the whole process with our solicitor yesterday (no win no fee) about whether this is actually going to be a futile process. No broker was used for the loan and the PPI was taken out August 2006.0

Hi there
I would give the FOS a ring and explain your situation with not being aware of the FOS process, they may consider taking this on for you.
Give it a go, good luck.;)

Would it be the case that if you pull out now you will be liable for all costs?DS1 12/10/04

Thanks - I will contact the FOS and as for the solicitor I have yet to get a straight answer to that..........will be ringing again today.0

I know that we have a few people on here in the same boat with solicitors doing this reclaiming and not getting anywhere and charging excessive fees. Did you use a reclaim company that put you in touch with the solicitor in the first place?SinkingFast wrote: »Thanks - I will contact the FOS and as for the solicitor I have yet to get a straight answer to that..........will be ringing again today.0 -
Hhmm...now I am trying to remember. I recall an unsolicited phonecall at the time I was considering whether to drop this or not and I think they introduced me to the solicitor...gosh, will go and dig out paperwork.0
