car scrappage scheme

Hi, An older lady, across the road from me, has had her 15 year old vauxhall stolen and burnt out. As far as the insurance is concerned, will only be to the value of the car, so next to nothing. I spoke to the lady this morning and she said she had been considering thinking about buying a new car on the scrappage scheme, but she now
thought she would be unable to do this. Is it possible she could still use the scrappage scheme under her circumstances.
Thanks for any help

I really doubt it, unless she had already ordered a new car and it happened in the mean time.0

Probably not.
If the car has been burnt out, the insurance will be writing the car off probably at Cat. C or higher.
Vehicles categorised as A, B or C require a VIC test before the DVLA will issue a new registration document.

No registration document - no scrappage allowance."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Thanks for the responses. Another kick in the teeth for her.0
