Don't worry, it's only 7 years bad luck. So I've already lessened the burden for you.

Dont worry, its only 7 years bad luck!!!

You can try to cancel this by :

Step 1 Turn around 3 times in a circle in a counter-clockwise direction as soon as you break the mirror. This will confuse the bad-luck spirits.

Step 2 Toss a pinch of salt over your left shoulder. Salt is a universal bad-luck dispeller, and according to legend the devil is always standing behind you on your left side so this pinch of salt should hit him right in the eye. Supposedly if he blinks it distracts him from making mischief for you.

Step 3 If the mirror is a small one, you should hold it under running water in your sink or shower. You may also toss it into a stream or river, as any type of running water is said to wash away all kinds of bad luck.

Step 4 Bury the pieces of the mirror outside in your yard. It is best to do the burying by moonlight if possible, and as soon after breaking it as you can manage.

Step 5 Take one shard of the broken mirror to a cemetery. Hold the shard against a gravestone so the bad luck will pass on to someone who is already dead and therefore won't be bothered by it.

    GOOD LUCK!!
  • If you go for the stream option, the water should be running away from you, so to carry the bad luck away!

I remember my mum doing this when I was little, hehe, I am now also superstitious!!
  • What will follow is you blaming any bad luck you have during the next 7 years on a bit of broken glass. 7 years will be up, nothing will change, and you'll stop blaming it.

I broke a mirror nearly 2 years ago (my big wiggly mirror *sob*)

I've had so much bad luck in my life BUT ever since that mirror shattered to pieces I've had LOTS OF GOOD LUCK!!! :rotfl: I just hope it continues for longer than 7 years!

I hope you also get 7 years of GOOD LUCK instead;):D

The original 7 years bad luck was due to the fact that mirrors on average cost the equivalent of 7 years salary:eek:.
However in this day and age and the price of mirrors and wages, I'd say the modern version would be about 20mins bad luck.

Well that's a bit mean - what if the bad luck sticks to the gravestone and it collapses and hurts a poor, innocent child? OP would feel well bad :(

    Good luck OP :rotfl:
