Well after changing the battery in my Peugeot 106 last week, I have finally located an alternator for it.
However the person who said he would fit it for me has disappeared:rolleyes: he hasnt answered his phone.
So second resort was to phone round some garages to see if they would do it. Not one of them said they would fit it for me  as its second hand
Third option was for me to do it. But i am not even attempting it as I have no idea what I am doing.
Do you think the RAC would fit it for me? I'm at a loss!

try physically going to some garages, im sure they will do it if you are under strict instructions that any faults/problems or delays will be at your cost0 -
rac patrols are not supposed to fit members own parts , but you may get lucky if the patrol is willing to do it . if you were up my neck of the woods i would do it for you .22864 quid and counting , but now proud to be dealing with it :j

Try some more. You need to be looking at small backstreet garages or mobile mechanics, not posh main dealers.
Shouldn't be any problem them fitting a customer supplied part ... as long as you accept there's no come backs if after completing the job, it still doesn't work.
Always best to buy a supply & fit service. That option is still open to you."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
