Consumer Rights in event of price reduction?

Options
Hello
This is my first post and I'm hoping someone will be able to advise me as to what I should do.

My husband ordered a 32" LCD tv on Tuesday this week from an online retailer. He haggled about the price as it was a discontinued model and they said they couldnt reduce it but would throw in some DVDs and a scart lead. Better than nothing, we thought as it was the cheapest we were able to buy it for anyway. We were told that delivery would be in 3-4 working days, so we kind of expected it by the weekend. Today, as it had not arrived, I thought I would give them a call and ask when it was going to be delivered. When the salesperson asked for the model number, I looked for the telly on the website and found that it had been reduced in price by £25. I asked if we would be charged the new price and was advised that we wouldnt as we had bought at a previously advertised price. My argument that we had not taken delivery of the set yet was dismissed as they have taken payment on my husbands credit card already.

Now, we dont want to shoot ourselves in the foot, but if we cancelled this order and reordered at the new price, we have been advised that the credit to the card will take 3-4 days to process meaning we would be out of pocket for that duration.

Am I in the wrong for wanting to pursue this? Should I just be grateful that this still is the best price on the internet - even at £25 more than now being advertised, or do we have rights (other than the right to cancel), bearing in mind that we do not yet have the tv in our possession? I want to get this right before they deliver the thing on Monday and we have no leverage.

Hoping one of you lovely people may be able to give some advice!

Cheers
Krokkie

You don't have any rights, other than the right to cancel. You made the contract at the agreed price. It's irrelevant that they've subsequently reduced the price.
