recently parked at peel centre stockport, bought ticket as always do. placed ticket on dash and checked, then got my little girl out of the back to shop returned to find notice. wrot e to them with valid ticket. they wrote back saying i broke rules by not displaying and to pay up. I wrote back telling them i checked ticket was on display and i have valid ticket, i am now waiting a reply when i looked on here. what is the best plan of action now as i made contact with them. this also happened on a holiday in bournemonth in a council car park last year and they cacelled fine on proof of ticket.

Hiya, the problem is that you're dealing with a private company this time, and not a council. You would have been best to ignore the "ticket" completely from the beginning, but now that you've contacted them, they may think that you're easy pickings.

They will most likely reject your "appeal" (private companies do not have real appeal processes). Did you photocopy the ticket before sending it to them? From now on, assuming they reject your "appeal", ignore them. They will send you all kinds of letters from fake "solicitors" and fake "debt collectors", but their fine is not enforceable and you do not have to pay it.

Do you mean you're not the registered owner of the car?

I don't know what their process is with regard to acknowledging letters from people, to be honest. They may just ignore your letter and send you the next letter that they automatically send to people who haven't paid their illegal "fines".

Good job on keeping the ticket, it's only useful if they do actually pursue you all the way to court, which is highly unlikely because they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. You bought a ticket, you're in the right, they're just a bunch of scammers. Ignore them.
