Halfords online order - misleading!

Yesterday I reserved an item (for collection in-store) on the Halfords website.
I went to collect the order in my local store and they tried to fob me off with a lower spec item as my order (which wasn't the same as the one I had ordered, and wasn't an item they were even offering online).
However, the store would not relent and would not sell me the actual item I had ordered (which was £5.00 more expensive instore than online). The Halfords website states something along the lines that 'the price you pay for your reserve & collect order is the one online'.
I think they should have honoured my order and sold me the item I had ordered not try to sell me the lower spec one which I did not order.
Does anyone know how I should proceed please?
Thanks in advance!

Did you not print out your order and if so did it not match the item in the store?
In theory, and I'm only guessing as this whole reserve & collect is a fairly new phenomenon, they can get away with this, as at this stage you haven't paid anything and no contract exists.0 -
I did print out the order, and it had their SKU number on. But it didn't have the picture of the item on (which is quite crucial).
The number on the online order matched up with the lower spec item they had... but the picture itself didn't. (Which I found out when I checked online at home).
I just found this in the Halfords T&C's below:
"1b. Price Information
The prices shown are only applicable to purchases made via the Halfords Online store. On occasions, the prices payable and promotions offered online may differ from those prices and promotions offered at the same time in Halfords stores. We are under no obligation to honour any in-store price or promotion that differs from those online. Similarly, Halfords stores are under no obligation to honour any online price or promotion that differs from the in-store price."
That last line is pretty much their get out clause I think... anyway no more shopping in Halfords for me!
Thanks for the help Neil.0 -
Here's the response I just received from Halfords 'Customer Services' Dept below:
Dear Mr. Jones
Thank you for your email.
I am sorry you have been displeased with our website and the service received in our stores'.
I can confirm that the Michelin High Power Tyre Inflator - SKU 261396 is in fact Model 12260. The Michelin High Power Rapid Inflator - SKU 261917 is Model 12262, priced at £44.99.
I am sorry for any inconvenience that may have been caused.
Yours sincerely,
Sophie Brettell
Customer Service Advisor.
Their website still shows the higher spec model at the price of £39.99... I for one won't be using Halfords again either online or instore... rubbish customer service and unprofessional sales staff.0 -

On the Halfords website, it is £39.99 for the "Michelin High Power Tyre Inflator", model 12260 (the model number IS on the website). This is the lower spec model.
There is a Michelin Hi Power Rapid Inflator at £44.99, which is model 12262. This is the higher spec model, and again the model number is listed on the website.
This is pretty clear on the website, and the email you got from Halfords just confirms the prices as they are displayed on the website.
It is the lower spec model you would get for £39.99, and the higher spec model is £44.99. So what model did they offer you exactly and at what price?0 -
There's a bit of confusion here... the image and spec that Halfords have up for a Michelin 12260 is NOT correct, they are showing the spec & image for a Michelin 12262 priced at £39.99.
A Michelin 12260 looks like this:
http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/michelin/12260-digital-tyre-inflator-and-detachable-digital-gauge.aspx?src=google-base
It is not digital and has a manual gauge.
Having looked more closely at both the pictures Halfords have onsite they both seem to show the same item (the 12262) and having looked further there is a question from another user about whether it's the 12260 model from 3 months ago, so Halfords haven't bothered to correct their images and spec information for 3 months.
Anyway, I've found another place online which is cheaper so I'll get it from there now.0 -
Why not jsut buy this
Much cheaper, which's best buy inflater a couple of months back and crucially, not from Halfords!Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
You can get the Michelin High Power Rapid Inflator Model 12262 for £36.99 at skidrive including postage. I did, just google "michelin 12262" - I've just saved you some money.
