EON Fix Online 4 - perhaps not the best deal for EON customers.
After reviewing my unit prices on the EON website there were a couple of better tariffs to beat my Energy Online V13 duel fuel. The Fix online 4 initially looks the best bet as it has a 14.2% online discount whereas the Save Online offers a 10.3%. Therefore Fix Online 4 would save me extra £48 a year based on a spend of £1200 a year. But here is where is gets interesting. Fix 4 does not earn any clubcard points and again based on my yearly spend I would earn 1200 Tesco points/ £12 vouchers = £48 in deals with Save Online. But if you opt for Fix 4 tariff and reach the end of the tarrif time in 2011 ( or if you switch sooner) and go to a tariff giving clubcard points, the rate of points earned per pound spent is halved from £1=1 point to £2= 1 point. It could be EON's way of wheening customers away from earning too many points. In addition the way that some analysts are pedicting that prices wont rise for 2010 again doesnt lead me to belive that the headline discount is always the best long term. I have therefore opted for Save Online.

No you wouldnt earn 1200 clubcard points, you would earn 600 with save online
E-on/Tesco changed the deal to 1cc point for ever £2 spent on fuel earlier this year.
Anyone signing up to any of E-ons new tariffs after that date will recieve 1point per £2, some tariffs dont give clubcard points at all.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I have been collecting 1ccpoint per pound as I have been with Eon for a few years now. What the c/s agent from Eon didn't tell me if I switch from V13 to Online Saver, that my points would drop as you mention from 1200 to 600. Its a bit cheeky on their part as my card was registered prior to March 09.0

Hi guys
Thought I would just clarify the number of Tesco Clubcard points customers are able to earn on their E.ON bills.
From the 1 March 2009, we changed the number of points awarded to one point for every £2 spent. Before this it was one point for every £1 spent.
However, this change only applied to customers who registered their Tesco Clubcard with us after 1 March 2009. Customers who registered their card before this date still earn one point per £1 spent.
Not all tariffs are eligible for Tesco points. Provided customers are on a qualifying tariff and registered their card before 1 March 2009 they will still be receiving one point for every £1 spent.
Jimbo, changing tariffs will not affect the number of points you receive. As you are on a qualifying product (SaveOnline) and registered your card before 1 March 2009, you will continue to receive one point for every £1 spent until further notice.
Hope this clears things up but give me a shout if you need any more info. Will be happy to help.

I understand that if someone registered their Clubcard before March 2009 and is on a qualifying tariff (i.e. Save Online) they continue to one point for every £1 spent.
What happens if someone them changes to a non qualifying tariff like Fix Online 5 and then eventually switchs back to a qualifying tariff in 2011?
When they go back to a qualifying tariff in 2011, will they be back to their old one point for every £1 spent or will it the be one point for every £2 spent? (assuming the same Tesco card all the time)

Hi Sunil
It is the date you registered your Tesco Clubcard with us that determines the number of points awarded for every £1 spent on energy.
So long as you are on a qualifying tariff and registered your card before 1 March 09, you will receive 1 point for every £1 spent on energy until further notice.
If you are on a qualifying tariff now, switch to a non-qualifying product and then back to a qualifying one, you will continue to receive the same number of points per £1 spent whilst on each qualifying product.
Therefore, in the example you mention, 1 point for every £1 spent will apply for the time on Save Online; no points will be awarded whilst on Fixonline 5; but moving back to a qualifying tariff will again earn 1 point for every £1.
This will continue unless you change the card registered or we review the offer. Not aware of any plans for a review at the moment.
Hope this answers your question Sunil. Give me a shout if you need any more details as will be happy to help.

Really sorry for the confusion on this one
In the situation of moving from a Tesco tariff to a non Tesco tariff then back to a Tesco tariff in the future, you would go on to the new scheme of 1 point for every £2 payment received.
As returning to a qualifying tariff would be classed as a new Tesco clubcard registration with E.ON and receive the lower amount of points.
Hope this clears things up.
