Wireless Door Chime

I've had a wireless door chime for a number of years and it's worked fine until recently, anyway it then started to work intermittently so I’ve been out and bought a new one. The problem is the new one doesn’t work, I took it back to the shop and replaced it and this one won't work either, yet if I take it to a friends house its perfectly ok. Has anyone got any ideas what can be causing the problem?

As it works fine away from your house, it sounds like the wireless signal may be getting swamped by another stronger other signal, possibly from a wireless router, wireless phone or video sender device nearby. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Obvious question: Have you tried replacing the battery(ies) in the push button and chime?0

When I first installed a wireless Internet router a year ago, it took me ages to discover that the reason I couldn't get my laptop to connect was because of the interference from the wireless video sender and the wireless door chime.
I had to set them all at different signals, experimenting until they all worked happily. Do you have any other wireless items and have you tried different settings?0 -
Thanks for that everyone, I never gave it a thought i've got a wireless video sender and recently i bought a wireless router. Anyone any advice on how to change the frequencies.0

Switch each item off in turn to find out which one is causing the interference. You should easily be able to change the channel used on your wireless router between 1 - 13 but it may still be too strong a signal for your door chime.

I've narrowed it down to the transmitter on my cable digieye, it has 12 channels but i've tried them all with no joy.0
