Yesterday morning I ordered about £300 worth of goods from a company that advertizes on the internet (no nothing pornographic). :D

I telephoned, checked that the items were in stock then paid on their website by debit card plus an additional £10.99 for next day delivery.

At 1245 hours I got an email confirming the order, and at 1510 hours two emails saying the goods were despatched.

Today I hung around waiting for the delivery.

At 1500 hours I rang the company and asked them to track the order.

I was told that they would try and trace it and ring me back.

At 1505 hours I got an email saying that the order had just been despatched?

I telephoned again spoke to the same person and asked what was going on. I was then told that the items were out of stock and should be with them sometime late next week.

When I told her about yesterday's emails saying that the items had been despatched, she said she would check with the warehouse in case there had been a mistake.

I told her I was very disappointed with the company and requested someone more senior ring me back with an explanation.

No one has contacted me.

I have just sent them email again requesting an explanation.

I am so annoyed that I have been lied to so many times.

They took payment for goods and next day delivery for things that weren't even in their possession. Told me three times that goods had been despatched and they hadn't, and left it that I might get them sometime in the future.

I don't know whether to cancel the order, or take it up with someone more senior at the company and ask for a partial refund or extra gift as a good faith gesture from them for the inconvenience caused.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Any consumer rights experts out there? :D
