Digital Recorder problems

I have had a Bush TV with built in Freeview for a year and have had no problems with reception.
After the switchover I bought a Humax Digital Recorder and I watch the TV through this as the TV Programmes were replaced. The picture is not as sharp and sometimes breaks up or flashes. As we are supposed to be in a good reception area what is wrong?
Any help appreciated. Thanks

Is the Humax connected directly to an external aerial? Humax PVR's are renowned for having a good sensitive receiver. Are you sure that it is tuned into the correct transmitter?

Humax connected directly to outdoor aerial but message appears when switched on saying Antenna is short circuited.

Unless you have a masthead amplifier, the Humax should not be supplying power to the aerial lead.

    1. Press the MENU button.
    2. Select Installation using the up/down buttons and then press OK
    3. Select Antenna Power from the installation menu using the up/down buttons.
    4. Press the OK button to select On/Off.

If you can post on here, you can also download the user manual from the Humax site!
