Digital Recorder problems

I have had a Bush TV with built in Freeview for a year and have had no problems with reception.
After the switchover I bought a Humax Digital Recorder and I watch the TV through this as the TV Programmes were replaced. The picture is not as sharp and sometimes breaks up or flashes. As we are supposed to be in a good reception area what is wrong?
Any help appreciated. Thanks

Is the Humax connected directly to an external aerial? Humax PVR's are renowned for having a good sensitive receiver. Are you sure that it is tuned into the correct transmitter? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
As I am not very technical how do I check? My Son connected and he is away at the moment.0

Humax connected directly to outdoor aerial but message appears when switched on saying Antenna is short circuited.0

Unless you have a masthead amplifier, the Humax should not be supplying power to the aerial lead.
1. Press the MENU button.
2. Select Installation using the up/down buttons and then press OK
3. Select Antenna Power from the installation menu using the up/down buttons.
4. Press the OK button to select On/Off. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

If you can post on here, you can also download the user manual from the Humax site! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
