Egg cashback card question.

I have a savings account with Egg. They have sent me an email about their 1% cashback mastercard. I would like a cashback credit card but not sure if they would give me one.
I have enough money saved in my savings account with them and I have a MBNA and Tesco credit card. I have a good credit history but I am out of work at the moment. I am self supporting mainly through savings. When I applied for another cashback card with Halifax I was turned down.
I was shocked when halifax turned me down but understood the reasons: It's just that I've never been turned down.

If I apply do you think I will be turned down or do I stand a chance because of the money I have saved with them.

Thank you.

If you are presently out of work - then that will work against you. How long back did you apply for halifax cc or for any other credit?

I got my Tesco card while I out of work about 2 years ago and about the same time the Halifax cashback card came up which I really wanted.
    So about 2 years ago.

I don't need to borrow because I need the money I only want to take advantage of the cashback. But I don't want to be refused and if it was a certainty that I would be refused Then I wouldn't apply.

    Thanks

If you have had a good credit history and you are not looking to get some other credit in the near future, no harm in applying for one. As you will know CC companies are becoming a bit more strict but one credit search will not make any difference. Go for it you have practically nothing to lose but everything to gain. Remember though that the Egg card has £1 per month fee attached to it.
