British Gas - Should I switch?

Hi Wonder if you could give me your oppinions. I'm currently with Southern Electric for Electric and Britsh Gas for Gas. I was thinking of switching to British Gas as I'm not overjoyed with the service at Southern Electric They've been charging me £50 + every month for my electric!
If you have British Gas what are your feelings about them as a supplyer. Is the new monitoring thingie worth while? I live in a 1 bed flat, on my own. I'm only in the house from 6pm to 8am so I don't use much power. I've got energy saving bulbs and I'm pretty good about not overdoing the Heating and turning stuff off.
Thanks for your advice.

If you are not using £50 worth of electricy per month, how much electric are you using?
(If you've built up a significant credit, why haven't you asked to lower the payments and/or be given the credit back ... but bear in mind you should be in credit this time of year)
When you've established what your average annual consumption is in kWh, put that into a couple of the comparison sites above and see which supplier offers you the best deal."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
At present, with the large dual fuel discounts, I think the vast majority of people will be better off getting their gas and electricity from the same supplier.
Who is the best supplier will depend on your consumption, where you live and what method you use to pay.
Bear in mind when looking at suppliers they have penalty clauses for leaving before a set date and some discounts are only paid after 12 months with the company.
The monitoring device is IMO something of a gimmick.(I have one) If you do want one it should not influence your choice of supplier as they can be bought cheaply - I have little doubt they will be on EBay for a tenner soon!0 -
I get both of mine with British Gas and they
seem ok,my bills are reasonable if you switch
ask about the click 6,I am on this and my bills
have been very reasonable so far, thought I
might have been better on a fixed rate but this
is proving to be better and I noticed someone
else on here who swapped theirs was saying the
same in another thread recently.:j:j:j0 -

Click 6 finished for new accounts some while ago(existing Click 6 customers remain on that tariff).
It was replaced by WebSaver1 and they are now up to WebSaver5.0
