What do you use?? Recommendations for Clinique?

Hello,

I have been using Boots no 7 protect and pefect range for couple of years now but not sure if it is best for my skin and i fancy a change. :o

I wondered what range you all use?

I was looking at Clinque and wondered if anyone recommends that range and if so what will be good to start with from the range.

My skin is normal but can get a bit dry on my forehead and i am prone to the odd spot now and then.

Thanks for any advice :T

  • I like Clinique makeup - it is very good on dry skin, but I actually prefer Clarins potions - especially their hydrabalance stuff. Have a chat with the ladies at the counters and they should be able to come up with a little bunch of samples for you to try for a few days (although this may be easier after Christmas).

But for the majority of the time, I use an olive oil cleanser, which sorts out cleansing and moisturising at the same time.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

clinique was one of the first ranges i tried...but i am not sure i would recommend it...it is a very harsh range and can strip the skin. i would recommend if you are tempted by any of the bg beauty houses such as clinique, get a load of testers and start off very small - it is very tempting to buy a load of products (their sales pitches and kits are usually very impressive) but don't until you have tried the range for at least a month.

Personally, I hated clinique and found it far too harsh for my skin. I do like estee lauder. The pore minimising serum...forgotton the name...and Advanced night repair are super, I don't know why other products tempt me. I also used to like daywear moisturiser.
  • Great supporter of Clarins cleanser (don't actually think their toner and moisturisers are worth the cost though); did then move onto Boots P&P but have recently become an Avon rep so have been trying their products out. I have a dry skin (not as young as I used to be ;) but then, who is? :rotfl:) Do prefer the P&P serum to Avon's but so far am more than happy with what I've tried re. eye creams/cleansers/moisturisers..... Lots to choose from and am still working my way through them all. With Avon's return policy i.e. buy, use, return for full credit if you don't like, then how can you lose?

Next on my list to try are their 'Instant Face Lift' and their Derma-Full X3 Facial Filling Cream, which reputedly is an 'injectable-grade facial filler' but without the injections!

PS: Don't know whether this is just hype or not but was told that Avon do spend huge amounts on R&D and then other High St. names just tweek the formula slightly and sell at mega mark ups.

I can't get away with Clinique but i do adore estee lauder - idealist skin refinisher - is a similar product to the no 7 protect and perfect serum - worn under moisturiser it makes your face feel like velvet.

Go to the counter and explain to them what you are after - perhaps tell them you have sensitive skin and can they give you a small tester;), so you can go away and try it out for yourself.
If you go when its not mad busy they are generally very helpful and will not pressure you.

  • Thank you everyone. Think i will pop in there and see if i can get some testers to have a try and see what suits my skin best.

    Thank you all again X

  • I have tried P&P but didn't think it was any great shakes really. I used to use Clarins but went off that and am currently using Estee Lauder Advanced night repair serum, which I LOVE and Olay Regenerist cream (the one in the red jar) along with the eye pods. I find them really nice and think that I can see an improvement in my skin since using them. I use Tesco Vitamin E cleansing wipes (very MSE at the moment as they are only 27p instead of about £2.50).

  • I've tried clinique and find it too harsh, I'm using nivea cream, given to me by dd, at the moment and its lovely. I have really dry skin and have tried nearly everything at one time or another, so don't really stick to one thing.
I haven't tried clarins, is it any good for (really) dry skin?

Love Clinique make up, but only use Olay moisturiser. I tend to slap loads on and Olay isn't too expensive.

But one thing I wouldn't be without at the mo is Clarins instant smooth perfecting touch. I put it on after moisturising and before foundation. It does exactly what it says on the jar. Bit pricey though for such a small jar, but a little goes a long way. I bought it back in the summer, (duty free) and have hardly made a dent in it. I will be buying more when it runs out though.
  • I didn't get on with P+P, but I love Clinique's Youth Surge. It suits my skin and keeps me looking young lol! (well a bit younger than I actually am!)
I use Clarins cleaner and toner though, but am a big fan of Clinique make up, especially the superbalanced foundation.
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by
