Help, Outlook has lost the contacts

Hi,
Hope someone can reassure me or set me on the right track to recovery!

I have been installing Outlook 2007 on a number of PCs (XP) and importing emails and contacts from the existing OE6. So far so good.

One user however had an old version of Outlook - 2000 perhaps?

Anyway I did the installation and everything imported ok. I checked his contacts (because he has hundreds) and actually showed them to him to reassure him.

Since then (yesterday) all the contacts have vanished. Naturally I no longer have access to the older version of Outlook because it has 'upgraded' it.

Would a system restore help? Is there a hidden file containing the old contacts? Any ideas why they would vanish like that?

Any help appreciated  I hate Outlook sooo much.
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
