My 18 yr old son has secured full time temporary Xmas work which i know will affect our Housing benefit and council tax benefits but i can't find anywhere it says about how it will affect our working families tax credits. Can anyone advise please

But the claim is your claim not his - so unless you take more than £300 off him in rent over Christmas then it wont affect your claim at all. Any income that you recieve over £300 has to be declared over and above the wages and benefits you recieve.
Mind you, he might eat more than £300 of food! :rotfl:Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
Well isn't that always the way, couldn't get through on phone so thought id post on here instead and hey presto i manage to get through to the helpline. As my Son is not being claimed for on the tax credits i don't have to declare his earnings so its just the housing benefits and council tax that need to know.We love what we are doing and we love why we're doing it!!0

Lol thanks Kimitatsu - you aren't wrong there i'm sure he will eat more than that over Xmas, hes saving ready for uni next year so we only want to take the bare minimum off him (ie as long as he does save it and not spend it socialising too much
