Hi, DH and I use the autoaid insurance for breakdown services. In the 3 years we have used it, we have had about 4 breakdowns. The service autoaid give is great, no complaints about that! However, i have begun to wonder as claims are al logged on a database of insurance claims, does this use of autoaid go towards increasing our risk on other types of insurance? ie would car or house insurance be higher because we have claimed quite ofetn in 4 yrs through auto aid - or is a completely different system?
Hope this makes sense
Thanks in anticipation

I believe you are talking about the Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE) which is the database that insurers can exchange information on. The important word to note is CAN because by no means are all insurers registered and of those that are registered not all of them use it frequently - one well known insurer only checks to see if you have undeclared claims when you notify them of a new claim rather than at the point of sale as many others do.
Equity that right the autoaid cover are a member of CUE
As the information is stored electronically in a ordered maner it comes under the data protection act and so you are entitled to get a copy of everything they hold on you for the administration fee of £10.
As to other insurers using it if there is anything there..... it isnt common practice in my experience but that isnt to say it doesnt happen nor that it will never become common. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

CUE is only used for Motor Insurance, Home Insurance and Personal Injury claims. AFAIK there is no central record of Motor Breakdown claims.0
