Best place to put £1500 semi-long term

I know this question has probably been asked a million times, but im new so be gentle!

Ive got approx £1500 to invest and obviously want the most out of it, i.e maximum interest. Ive looked around but quickly became confused. I dont need quick access to the money. I could put it away and forget about it for a few years. I should also have more money to invest with it in the future. Any ideas on what to do with it?
