Money Sent by BACS Sent Back & Charged

Hi Guys,

I sent a payment for my Wolves Credit Card (run by Sygma Bank) through my online banking by BACS. I used the sort code and a/c number on the giro slip at the bottom of my statement, and entered my cc number as the reference - as with all credit card payments.

Anyway, I checked a day or so ago to see the money had been returned to my current account, and I had been charged a default fee on the CC.

I only resorted to using BACS because Sygma's unbelievably bad online service doesn't seem to accept card payments, and hasn't for months (it just comes back with errors).

Do I have much grounds for appealing the default charge?

Thanks

What was the reason given for the return of the payment? Why was it refused by the recipient's bank?

On my OB it just shows a credit of the amount I sent, from Sygma Bank. I'll ring my bank and ask if a reason was sent alongside it.

Have you double checked the bank of the giro to see if there is a different account number you need to send a payment if you are sending it online?
DId you type in the CC number correctly?

It would have been sent back by them because the details given were incorrect.
I would reclaim the charge back though ;)
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
