Parking in a CPZ - appeal?

Hi all

Last Wednesday I got a ticket for parking in a CPZ within restricted hours. It's a fair cop in that the signage WAS clear at the entrance to the CPZ, and I simply didn't see it.

However, I had parked there while going to a restaurant with a friend who was on crutches. This CPZ was the nearest place I could park to the restaurant. The friend can supply medical evidence to this effect. Would this be likely to succeed at appeal? If so, what sort of evidence should I supply?

Also - the ticket is £100 (reduced to £50 if paid within 14 days). How does this work if you lodge an appeal - does it stay at £50, or go up to £100? Or is it advisable to pay the £50 within the 14 days and then appeal?

Thanks

Mark

  • Most unlikely to succeed with an appeal based on that. Copy both sides of the pcn and remove personal data and host on tiny pic then put the url on here. Also check on all roads leading into the cpz to check id there are signs on both sides of the road (2 way roads over 5m wide) If only one then you have a probable appeal point. The more expert will be able to help later.
ps once you've paid, that's it, they assume an admission of guilt.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

    Hi - thanks - here's the URL. <a href="http://tinypic.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i48.tinypic.com/25jl2k8.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

I think I've answered my own question re whether it stays at £50 if you appeal though.

Hi again - could you read the ticket OK from the Tiny Pic link, or should I re-load it?
