My understanding of this is that one can login, using a simple browser, from any PC anywhere in the world, and have the same data/applications and layout thus enabling the user to work in exactly the same way seamlessly without being tied down to any single PC.
However I haven't seen this implemented successfully for single users like myslef, (using common applications such as Office, Outlook, media etc,) Ideally it would have some kind of online desktop/storage and applications used on demand.
Has anyone here had any practical success in this respect?

Google Docs, Office Web Apps, Dropbox, Skydrive/Mesh are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head that are or about to be available for consumers to use freely.0
