same here I had 2 barclays OD and 3 barclaycards they called myself and my office incessantly for 2 weeks one day they called 9 times even though they had been informed of my BR over a week ago. I still get letters about my overdrawn account still the calls have dried up. I did threaten report them to the official regulator too. I even informed them again when I open a basic account with them however not putting my moeny in there yet after all the stories, I've got a co op for my wages

i only had a large OD with them thank goodness, and never heard a peep and funnily enough they are the only one of my creditors showing on my credit report as settled with the correct date..

now EGG ahhh they are another story, still adding on defaults

Hey guys tahnks for sharing your experiences with us.

    No good words yet .

    regards sizzler:beer:
  • Barclaycard started off as a royal pain in my a**

Now however i only get an occasional letter. I told them i was dealing with NDL on a payment soloution, i got a nice "ok thanks for telling us, please keep us updated" letter. Which i thought was nice

Now capital one on the other hand....... are devious, cruel and absolutly terrible to their customers! Regardless what you say to them they will carry on with their script. I didn't answer their security questions and they asked who i was and i gave a false name. They then went onto day that i should get miss MBDF to call them back ASAP RE the arrears on the account. Oh i forgot to mention that was after them calling my old work to get the name of my new work, then calling every branch of my work in Aberdeen ( there are 9 ) till someone put them through to my extension
And after 3 recorded delivery letters and a complaint to trading standards, financial ombusman and the other one (i cant remember now)

They still hound my parents every day, and tell them they wont stop until they give them my mobile number. Also that they will send a debt collector to their home (not the address on the account) who "will not act in a discreet manor"

Anyway sorry this thread is about barclays..... they are being alright at the moment. I'd still not ever open a basic account with them  (end of rant sorry!!!)
In for a penny in for a pound :j

I've had issues with Barclays for the last two years now since I entered my IVA. Basically, after they sat in on the creditors meeting, were one of those that approved the IVA proposal, and had at least 3 letters to and fro between them and my IVA handler, they suddenly decided they had never had confirmation that I was under an IVA!! As such, they started charging interest on the overdraft, which then took it over the OD limit, thus incurring charges! I wouldn't have minded too much as it's just their money their going to have to settle/wipe off anyway, but for them to call me day in day out for best part of two years despite me sending them harrassment warnings etc, was too much. One day I really let rip down the phone at the guy, to the point where his words were "I'm going to hang up this call and put in a complaint about you, so you won't hear from us again other than in writing"... RESULT!!!
GREENS M'SHIP OFFER NOW CLOSED SO PLEASE DON'T ASK ME!
    Olympic Debt-free Challenge £2150/£11900 = 18.0%
NOW INVESTIGATING AN ALTERNATIVE TO MY IVA - I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND ONE ANY MORE!

Barclays have zero interest in their older customers......I used to bank with Barclays for.....25 years?

Started with them becasue of the local branch.

However, in later years I noticed how they weren't interested in long-standing customers...probably because they didn't earn the bank much profit...only being interested in high-earning newbies.

This got to the stage of being almost positively discouraged by them.

Despite the account being fine. [in my eyes...obviously not earning them enough though.]

then poohitfan, and I followed the sage advice of my CAB person, and opened some Co-op accounts....and simply left the Braclays well into the red.

Strangely, not a lotta hassle from the banking end.....usual from B/card though....however, phone contact I avoided...neatly as it happened...so only snottograms 3 times a week....saved me money on firelighters though!

I am deeply cynical of Barclays having a ''BR-friendly'' attitude.

I do not see them getting much mileage out of the loyalty factor here.

    we're not a bunch of fresh-out-of-school people...are we?

after all, if BR, we are indeed worldly-wise financially.

The Co-op, however, never historically targetted the high-end sector of the economy....so in supporting BR's they are really remaining their traditional selves....but they get my vote, and loyalty too.
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

they did however put me in the mind of a grumpy child...a little while ago (been discharged now nearly 3yrs) they approached me asking if i'd like a basic account with them after holding a current account for over 30yrs I declined & said i'd be looking elsewhere after the hassles with them & bankruptcy....well fast forward to june (ish) this year having problems with co-op one thing and another (long story) decided to look around for a new account

rang barclays to ask only to receive the reply "sorry no chance you turned us down last time now its our turn" and disconnected me...went to natwest for a basic account & after everything went through i'd been allowed a full account with debit card & a small O/D

    Barclays? pah!
