ASDA home insurance

Cancelled my home insurance with Asda 2 weeks ago, for the year it cost me £81.85, and I took out in May, naively enough I was expecting some sort of refund but now just received an invoice from them for £15.34 :mad:
This is £47.09 of insurer charge and £50 to cancel
so in effect if I hadn't let them know it would have cost me zero but to be honest and cancel I'm charged - absolutely crazy.
Just phoned to complain, pointless I am still expected to pay and if I don't it will be passed to a debt agency to collect.

I'm in same boat - came to make a claim and was so long winded and badly handled I cancelled. Now I get a bill £25.23.
However as previous poster says check T+Cs. This is where most ins cos slip up. I was sent 2 credit agreements - 1 to sign and return. I never signed it. They cant pass it onto to a debt collection agency w/o a signed signature. I am going to write and see.....0
