Dont know if it should be on consuimables or here, so feel free to move
Im looking for a printer. We need it to do literally the basics, of the odd letter or email for tickets etc.
I have NO money for this, but it is needed, so Im guesing my budget is under £40
I saw one in Wilkinsons the other day for 20.00 but had no idea what i was looking for, so open to advice

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

At the minute Hewlett Packard seems to be flavour of the month although I would have thought anything from Canon, Epson or Hewlett Packard would be good. Be careful though about consumables .. I am led to believe that some Canon printers can only use 'original' cartridges. Before buying look at the price of consumables .. I use https://www.choicestationary.co.uk (not necessarily the cheapest but the cartridges and service have been excellent).
Do you need it for photos and colour?

no not really, just for the odd letter to the bank & printing off e-tickets, so as far as Im concerned the most basic will do
Cheers for your suggestions in advance

Whatever you get I suggest researching the cartridge prices first as sometimes they cost more than a printer, try finding the cheapest genuine cartridges and then look for a printer.
Its a hard slog looking at printer cartridge prices but worth the amount that you save in the longrun.0 -
Plenty to choose from here at good prices.

Just need some recommendations as to which one to go for.
As mentioned, research replacement printer cartridge costs. Ebay is a good starting point. Compatibles are much cheaper and just as good.0 -
What you need is a printer that requires cheap cartridges and can be refilled a couple of times.
HP are pretty bad in that field.0 -
