Help! Rugs won't lie flat on new carpet

Options
The carpet shop is quoting over £50 for rug underlay and the local hardware shop is saying that their gripper tape could damage a carpet.

There seems to be a vast number of products claiming to do the job of holding the rug in place and its impossible to know which one to buy.

Has anyone found tape or spray that helps keep a rug flat on top of a carpet?

Our rug is 12 years old, right in the middle of the living room it stays flat until someone walks across it!

  • Have you tried the rubbery anti slip stuff that comes in A4 or A3 sheet sizes from some pound shops? Don't know if it works but maybe worth a try.

It's not designed for rugs but is used to stop other stuff from slipping around and some people use it to line drawers or to stop things moving around on car dashboards/duckets. Comes in a few colours and shouldn't cost too much for a few sheets.

  • hi. i had a couple of rugs that used to walk all over the place and tried many things to stop them . it was a carpet fitter who sold me some CYBERGOLD rug control and now they don't go anywhere.he charged me £10 for a piece 100cm x200cm which did the 2 rugs..they have a website www.cybergolduk.com and are in high wycombe .
    hope this helps

Hmm ive never had this prob with rugs on carpets tbh..this house now we have laminate and they stay flat on those too but one does slide at times. We bought that rubber matting stuff to go under it but it needs re applying every day as rucks up under it really dont think ot would do much good on carpet looking at it but may be wrong only cost £2 though!..other than that it stays flat and doesn't budge either..sorry not much help really!
