Acer Aspire Keyboard Home/End Keys?

Hello.

I appreciate that this may sound like an obvious question.

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 9504WSMi as a replacement for my Toshiba Satellite M30, and before I go on may I just say that this is the most powerful and sweetest baby anyone could ever want.

Anyway, could someone please tell me how to activate the home and end keys, to move to the start and end of a line respectively? I cannot find them on the keyboard, and it's not until you don't have something that you realise how often you use it.

Sometimes pressing CONTROL + FUNCTION + PAGE UP or CONTROL + FUNCTION + PAGE DOWN works, but not in all applications.

Thanks to anyone that can help with this. The 9504WSMi is a 17-inch TFT Monitor machine with full number pad, if that helps at all.

Cheers and take care.

Hussein.

Have you looked in Control Panel? In particular the Keyboard section and Regional and Language Options. Make sure the latter is set to UK, go through and check out all the options.

Hi. The laptop came pre-configured for the UK.

It's not so much that the keys don't work, it's what keys do I press to get Home and End functionality? There does not seem to be a dedicated Home key and a dedicated End key.

    Hope this makes more sense.

I don't know if this will help, but I have an Acer Aspire 9502WSMi and the Home and End key are clearly marked on the numeric pad on the 7 and the 1 key respectively.

Hello. Ah that makes sense actually. My screen reader software makes use of the numeric keypad, but it's easy enough to disable it and render the keypad to work as normal.

Cheers. How do you find the 9502WSMi? It's just a gem isn't it? I'll have to refresh my memory on what spec it has in comparison to the 9504WSMi but they are both great laptops. Much better than the Toshiba Satellite M30 I had before and that is now in repair with a bill for £471! And considering I bought it brand new for£763 that's saying something!

    Cheers and take care.

I have an Aspire 5622WLMi with a 15.4 widescreen without a separate numerick keypad and the Home/Pg Up/Pg Dn/End keys are in a vertical row on the far right of my keyboard. I don't need to press Fn or any other button to make them work; they work all the time as normal key.

I've got 1GB DDR2 RAM, 100 GB hard drive, 17" WXGA screen, 1.73Ghz 533 MHz, 256MB VRAM and yes it's the bees knees. I spent a long time researching which laptop to buy and I've never regretted it.

Talk about it. I had to buy mine in a hurry as my Toshiba died and I needed it for exams. But in the end I didn't get it in time for the exams due to one thing or another (not the laptop, me) but now I'm on holidays for three months I can't get enough of it. That TFT is just so much better than any desktop monitor of similar size could ever be, and so bright too. And the thing is so fast! Mine's a 2.0ghz, but it way outstrips my desktop's 2.66ghz. And the sound, I mean my last laptop didn't have a damned subwoofer sitting right underneath it, and this just rocks. I can sit awake at night listening to music on max volume through headphones and it's just out of this world. 'contented sigh' :):):)

    Cheers and take care.
