£200 in credit should i claim it back?
I have just recieved my dual statement gas and elec bill from NPower and I am currently £215 in credit with them. My statement is from 10 june-1st dec.
I pay by direct debit and got my last bill in July. On my last bill I was only about £30 in credit, but they then sent me a letter to say that they were reducing my payments by £25 a month based on my previous 6 month usage (dec-jun) as they calculated i was paying for more than i used.
I am now wondering what to do with the £215. Should I call them and ask them to credit into my bank? Or do you think I should leave it there in case I use more over the winter?
I'm a bit confused but if they reduced my payments on the assumption that I would use the same this winter will my monthly payments not cover my usage and then I will still be in credit in 6 months time? in which time they will have earned interest on my money? or have i got it all wrong and will end up not getting it back or will end up owing them later down the line?

I pay as & when the bill arrives, but my advice FWIW would be leave the dosh with them until the winter period is over & billed for
The interest on your £215 in the current financial low interest rate climate is minimal & probably not worth the potential hassle of finding you owe them more next AprilGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0 -
If you agree to pay monthly by DD (to help even out what you are required to pay over the year), then you should be in credit at this time of year.
If you only wish to pay for what you have consumed, ask to be put on a tariff that allows payment on receipt of bill."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I pay diret debit and pay the same each month, it was £101 when i first moved in 12 months ago, then they reviewed it after 6 months and put it down to £78.
I will leave it as it is then and if I find I am still in credit in 6 months time I will ask for it back. Thanks all.Lea0
