Hi everyone, hopefully just a quick question.
I have been out of work since last feb. I now have a new job due to start in Jan 2010. I am on JSA at the moment. Is there any help the jobcentre can give me towards clothes and travel? I wont get paid until the end of jan, and with xmas an all the usual, the 2 payments i am due will really strech. I have asked the JC and they could only book me in for an interview and wouldnt give me any advice over the phone.
Any advice on what is available and how i can apply would be great.

Why don't you ask for "smart work clothes" or "money to help you travel to work" as your Christmas gifts this year?
Good luck in your new job next year.0 -
Job Grant
A Job Grant is a tax-free lump sum. You may be eligible for a Job Grant if you have been claiming one of the following benefits:- Employment and Support Allowance
- Incapacity Benefit
- Income Support
- Jobseeker's Allowance
- Severe Disablement Allowance
You'll automatically get Job Grant if you're eligible. You just need to make sure you tell your Jobcentre Plus Office that you're starting work. You'll be paid in the same way as you were paid your benefit.*SIGH*
