Chargebacks and Refunds

Hi,
If someone has done a chargeback with Paypal and the money is on hold what happens if you refund? Do you end up paying them twice so to speak or does one cancel the other out? I'm very confused.
Also because the payment is on hold it's put my Paypal balance into negative figures even though i've got a debit and a credit card registered on there. I tried to refund but it's telling me to set up bank account funding which will take a few days. I'm afraid the buyers patience may be wearing thin and would like to refund asap.
Someone please help, i've never had a lost parcel to deal with before.

The chances are the buyer will leave negative feedback now anyway so I'd not worry about it.
I'd put a note on the dispute asking paypal to issue the refund... if you don't have the balance available in your account you can't manually do it yourself anyway so just let it runs its course and paypal will refund in full.. leaving you a negative balance.. then if it is a small amount just sell a few other bits to get it back in the black .. or if it is a lot of money.. just open a new account with a different card and email address.
the buyer will just have to wait.. but if you are a nicer person than I am you could send them an email saying they will receive the refund as soon as paypal get their act together.. 8 days after the claim is raised.. they'll just have to be patient and understand you can't do it so your hands are tied etc.. you never know you may have one of those rare human being type buyers (doubt it on ebay but you can hope!)LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
