Looking for a small hard-shell suitcase HELP

Hi

I am looking for a small carry on size hard shell case. You know the ones with wheels and a pull along extendable handle. I saw a decent one in Matalan for £25 but was wondering if anyone on here knows of any decent ones around that sort of price?

Cheers

Are you sure that you don't mean Debenhams?

OP, if you are looking for a decent one you do not want to be shopping at Matalan! Is there a reason why it has to be hard shell?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • I bought one (silver grey in colour) but prefer a hold all so it's been stuck in my friend's attic for about 12 months!
If you live local to me you're welcome to have it.
  • TK Max do some good quality suitcases at reasonable prices, and usually have a good range of sizes. The only problem with hard shell cases is that they can be quite heavy, and take up a fair bit of your luggage allowance before you start.

in addition to being heavier, they also don't seem to fit as much as softer cases, perhaps because they can't give at all?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Clarks (shoe shops) have a good range of luggage in their outlet village stores.
Buy a decent quality one or the airline will destroy it !

Oh, thanks for this.....I must check out the weight of them by comparison. DD was going to get me one for Christmas as I have a tendency to overstuff the soft sided type and I thought a hard shell one would be the solution.

:oIf anyone was on the way from Liverpool to Naples with easyjet in September , I was the last passenger to board, scrabbling on the ground, frantically trying to rearrange my stuff, so the bag would fit in the size frame and avoid the hold fee:o:o:o

    Hi, where abouts are you?
  • I've noticed the last couple of times I've been checking in that they seem to be really clamping down on overweight luggage. It's amazing how much a hard shell case can weigh, not so bad if you are going somewhere hot or anly need light weight stuff, but if you are packing for a cold climate or have heavier stuff, it can really make a difference.

The problem was easyjet had no weight limit on the handbaggage....just a size restriction, hence the overstuffed bag, so the hard shell would be ideal. Trouble then arises with the hard shell bag when there is also a weight restriction!!
    Yes, I know, there's a simple solution:rolleyes:
