Help, I can't get my phone to connect to my laptop :(

Hiya hope one of you can help me please. I have a Samsung G600 mobile phone, and I have some photos on it which I want to put on my laptop (they are not on a memory card as I can't find it, they are on the actual phone itself). I have the USB cable which came with the phone. I've tried twice now to download the 'PC Studio' thing which supposedly lets you get pics off your phone. But it's not working
First download installed and couldn't find the program anywhere on my computer. Second download installed then came up with a strange message mentioning vista sp2 so I'm guessing the download wasn't compatible. Yet again can't even find it on my computer to remove it.
Please help I really want to get these pictures onto my laptop. Thanks.

Don't know the phone, but some phones come up with some data transfer mode options on the phone when you plug them in, and if you choose the right one, the phone will act like a usb drive, removing the need to install any software.!!

What OS and version are you using on your laptop?
Is the software compatible with it?
What precise error message did you get?
You need to be more specific to get help.
It might be easier just to copy the pics onto a memory card in the phone, then physically transfer them via a card reader. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I've got windows vista home premium, with service pack 2. I used to use this way of doing things back when I had xp but not tried it since having vista installed (laptop originally came with vista.)
Error says

Are you using the correct version of PC Studio 3.1 (there are 2 versions, one for Vista and one for XP)?

Makes sure you remove the previous versions first in Control Panel before you attempt to install the new one.No free lunch, and no free laptop
