Buying Brand New Car with no p/ex
My son is about to buy his first brand new car at the weekend, looking at all the small cars, Vauxhall Corsa, Volkswagen Fox, Citroen C1 or C2 etc. Needs to be something in the Group 1 or 2 for insurance purposes (young, male and not got any no claims as he has been on my insurance as a named driver). He has no part exchange but ideally is looking for free insurance. Should he pay the asking price in the showroom or is there room for negotiation on something like this. Would he be better off trying to find a pre-registered car? Will this give much discount on the cost of one that hasn't been pre-registered?

negotiate a price, then walkaway and compare it the broker sites, www.drivethedeal.co.uk , www.autobytel.co.uk , www.dealdrivers.co.uk , www.broadspeed.com amongst others
have used drivethedeal and autobytel in the past and would reccomend them, check out the ford Ka at between £4995 and approx £53500 -
Thanks, didn't even know broker sites existed. Have just looked at Drivethedeal and the price for a basic Corsa has come out at about £600 cheaper than we were quoted in our local dealership! If we order from this site, how do we go about getting the car, do we collect from local garage or is it delivered? Sorry to sound so naive but this is all new to me. Does the car then have dealer warranty? Any other advice would be appreciated.0

Hi
Also try https://www.micronetshowroom.com, they are one of the cheapest new car suppliers in the UK. For example a brand new Citroen C1 (3 door) is £4697 at micronetshowroom while cheapest Corsa is £4997 (again brand new, UK model)
Hope this helps
Good luck!0 -
Not sure how keen you are on the models mentioned, or if they were just examples, but comments on those, in particular....
Corsa, excellent deals just now, 'cos it's end of model life - new one out shortly, based on Fiat Punto latest model, so 'bigger' small car. Depends if you're OK with a new 'old' car, expect less when comes to selling on again.
The Ctroen, always got some sort of deal going, so you'll get a discount, easily.
The new Fox, is a cheap VW - not quite German build quality, but looks good value. Did you know of their £86ish/month scheme, maintainence included??? Worth investigating.
Don't forget Fiesta, again Ford always have something to 'deal' with, too.
What you shouldn't expect is HUGE discounts, small cars = small margins!!
But to get GENUINE up to the minute, real life selling prices, of LOADS of offers, clik http://www.hoestjohn.co.uk clik on This Weeks Best Deals link, on the right hand side of his site.

when we bought from drive the deal it was our local citroen garage that supplied the car so we just went and collected it, this was by chance though as when we used autobytel the ford came from a dealer down south somewhere who delivered this on a transporter. with drive the deal the price we paid included delivery, with autobytel it seems that some prices include delivery others dont so is always worth submitting your details to get a firm quote from the broker sites, when we bought via drivethedeal we got a 0% finance deal as this was from the manufactorer (if the special apr deal is from the dealer you cant normally get it)
as for servicing you can take it to any dealer (or local garage if they use genuine parts and follow the reccomended service plan) and your waranty remains valid
hope that helps, any more questions please feel free to ask away

If we buy from one of these broker sites, what is delivery usually like. We need the car within the next 2 weeks as son is starting work and will need it before end of June.0

drive the deal took about a month to deliver but that was over christmas and new year, autobytel delivered within 2weeks (had we ordered an hour earlier it could have been with us within the week as he had just sold the one in stock and had to get one from the holding factory/area), i guess it depends on how popular the car is and colour choices etc0

Do you know what availability is before you place the order? Problem is that son is at home at the moment so would like car delivered here but will be moving to other end of country in 2 weeks, could have it delivered there but we would need to know about availability before we confirm order, so that we could say where it needs to be delivered/collected from.0

Take a look at https://www.trade-sales.co.uk
One if the best place for new cars, althought there are located in SE, Slough near heathrow airport.0 -
Would he consider a pre-registered car at a car supermarket. It may have somebody eles name on the log book before him, but they are usually delivery mileage cars registered by dealers to meet targets. Savings can be in the tousands, spec may be a little limited, depending on what they 've got in.0
