Light (but powerful) laptop

Hi
I hope someone can help with this. I desperately need a light but powerful laptop - not a Netbook but something that is around 1.5kg, Intel Core 2 CPU, min 2 Gig of RAM I think.
In the past I have usually had Toshiba laptops but the last one is 3KG and I carry it around - it is killing my back.
Can anyone recommend a new laptop that is good value for money but also light and powerful? I have tried to look for a comparison site that enables me to choose by weight but no luck...
Thanks in advance and hope this is the right place for such a request.

What is your budget? I use a Sony Vaio but the light powerful one I have was not inexpensive, it's usually a compromise with features, power, weith and budget when it comes to laptops.0

Thanks for replying
To be honest I am happy to consider something up to around £750 plus VAT. Not sure if that is realistic or not but I have struggled to find a simple way to compare like for like. Have considered Sony because one of my friends has one but he was not overly impressed.
I have always had Toshibas up to now and my current laptop is fine other than I have been advised to get something lighter because I am damaging my back.
Screen size is not especially important to me. Most important is the combination of light and powerful

A couple of people in my work recently had the same requirements as you in terms of getting a laptop that was quite light and a decent spec.
We ended up going for the Sony VGN-SR51MF/S - a tad under 2Kg. I had a good play on one and it worked pretty well.
Cheapest price I could find is a little over your budget @ £894 inc VAT (£777 exc) via Google Base - ours came from John Lewis where they're £999.
One of them went to our MD; he uses it fairly constantly and has had no issues at all (had plenty with his previous Vista laptop, also a Sony).
