Hi just got my hands on a second harddrive and wanted to install linux without all the grief and trouble of partitions.
I will be mainly using my system for programming applications and web desing stuff, ive used red hat , blag and centOS at university at other peoples houses but i was wondering what you lot would recommend with your wisdom?
Many Thanks
Pierce

For ease of installation and use .. I'll vote for Ubuntu. But I'm running Fedora Core 5 right now
Had Ubuntu running on my old notebook (192MB RAM, 466Mhz Celeron processor) and I was happy with it .. it just that the notebook is too old now and the hardware was failing one after the other. 0 -
Yes - I'd recommend Ubuntu - also if you encounter any problems their forums are good.0

Ubuntu all the way, it's probably the best distro for people new to Linux0

Yep Ubuntu too.
The only downfalls I have with it (and other distro's) are the lack of WPA and wireless support. It is possible to setup but isn't out of the box ready. I currently only have a wireless atheros adapter and setting up a wireless network when I can't yet connect to the internet is a real pain.
Apart from that it's great. Google Automatix, it's a great script/app that'll install all the common things you'll need, codecs, media players etc..."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
if you want a simple installation with not much tweaking by you
have a look at mandriva (used to be mandrake) well polished installation for newbies0
