Storage Heating & Electric Boiler

Options
Hi

I hope someone can answer this one.

My storage heating has stopped working and so has the electric boiler. So I replaced the fuse in the switch for the boiler and they started working again then 2 days later the same problem.I notice that the red light does not come on for the switch though.

It seems if I keep changing the fuse they work but then goes again, Could it be the main circuit swtich or the the fused swicth or the boiler ?

Please help !!!

  • Any of the above,How does the Elecric Boiler work in conjuntion with your storage heaters? The red light tells you that power is LEAVING the switch,If its wired correctly,But will not light if the fuse in the "Switched Fused Spur" is blown,If it keeps "blowing" you will need to call an electrician!!

Thanks, the heating comes on during the night between 00:00 and 7am, and the water tank gets heated at the same time, I have the economy 7 type.

So basically all the off-peak stuff is not working. The trip switch never goes on the main board so I am either thinking it's the switch or the thermostat on water tank is blowing fuse.

    Cheers

It is not hard to tell where a short circuit is happening for an electrician. BTW, your main economy 7 heating element is almost certainly at fault, a 5 second test with a multi meter would confirm this.
